Wednesday Beloved Spiritual Exercises

In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
✠ Amen

1.  Prayer of the Beloved Disciple

✠ Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit, may we enter the solemn grace of the upper room, that place of Eucharistic love, where the Holy Spirit rested upon the Apostles in tongues of fire. May we abide in you and you in us, in one accord… with our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls at rest, in your Peace… so that we may have ears to hear, eyes to see, hearts to understand.

2.  Our Father

Every day, we begin with the Lord’s prayer.

“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen”

Wednesdays, we focus on the third petition of the Lord’s prayer.

“Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” Matthew 6:10

We enter the fiat of Mary when we pray for God’s will to be done.

“Be it done to me according to thy will.” Luke 1:38

We deepen that surrender in the Garden of Gethsemane where we enter the heart of Jesus at Gethsemane.

“Not my will, but your will be done” Luke 22:42

✠ Lord Jesus, we welcome your kingdom into our personal lives, family, friendships, business dealings, social media postings, tv watching, etc.… Help us surrender our lives to you, bringing your values and virtues into our daily lives.

3.  Hail Mary

Every day, we pray the Hail Mary to prepare our hearts for consecration, through Mary to the Most Holy Trinity.

“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

Wednesday, we focus on the third part of the Hail Mary

“Blessed art thou among women.”

✠ Mary is the New Eve, who undid the knot of the original sin, by virtue of her obedience. Mary is singularly blessed not only among women but also is the fairest of all humanity apart from her son. Help us to be among the faithful generations that honor Mary, as generations will call her Blessed to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity.

4.  I AM Sayings

Wednesday, we focus on the third I AM declaration.

“I Am the Sheep Gate” John 10:7

Praise be the Father Gate of Mercy.
Praise be Jesus, the One Way to Salvation.
Praise be the Holy Spirit, key to the Abundant Life.
Praise be the Trinity for the gift of Merciful Love.

✠ We worship you as we abide in your Way love.

5.  Love Incarnate

God’s love and discipleship

“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

✠ Lord Jesus, we thank you for first loving us and giving us a model to love one another. Help us find new ways to express that love in truth and deed.

6.  Shepherd’s Love

Each day we take one of the places in Psalm 23, where the Good Shepherd shows his love for us.

Wednesdays, we focus on encounters with God on the path of righteousness.

Right Paths

“He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3

✠ Father, when we leave the beaten path frequented by the enemies of grace; the world, the flesh, and the devil, we choose to enter the path of righteousness. It is on this path we can expect God’s love to fill us and sustain us for our next steps.

7.  Gifts of the Holy Spirit

There are seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Wednesday, we focus on the gift of Counsel.

Counsel

“I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.”

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to ponder the mysteries of the Gospel, so that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can receive the gift of counsel, and so, be instructed to follow your divine will.

8.  Signs

There are seven signs that show Jesus is the Son of God.

Wednesdays, we focus on the third sign.

Healing the Paralytic (John 5:6-9)

✠ Jesus, we praise you for healing the paralytic by the Pool of Bethesda and forgiving his sins.  We pray for the gift of repentance, to receive your divine forgiveness, and open us to the wonders of your healing love.

9.  Holy Hour

Hour of the Watches of the Day and the Night

“Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Those who walk during the day do not stumble, because they see the light of this world.” John 11:9

✠ Lord Jesus, by our faithfulness to your holy hour, give us the gift of vigilance in the twelve watches of the day, and the twelve watches of the night, that we may abide in your Light.

10.  Awake

Wake up for we know not the hour

“Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.” Matthew 24:37-44

✠ Lord Jesus, we know not the hour of your visitation but we do know that every hour is an opportunity to abide in you.

11.  Penitential Prayer

The penitential prayer is founded on Divine Mercy. We cannot hope to open the gate of mercy if we do not repent from sin, love our enemy, and forgive all who have offended us.

✠  Heavenly Father, shine forth your grace upon us, to melt our hard hearts so we can:

  • Love our enemies and forgive all who have harmed us.
  • repent in earnest for the sins which are blocking us from loving you with our mind, soul, and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves.

We pray to understand the effect of sins in our life, in our families, our nation, and the world. Give us the gift of truth, a repentant heart, a firm purpose of amendment, and the desire to make reparation.

By your grace, we choose to love our enemies and to forgive all who have harmed us.

Wednesdays, we focus on overcoming greed and its related sins.

We repent for the sins of the stronghold of Greed.

✠ Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.

All Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our iniquities. Holy God, visit and heal our infirmities for thy Name’s sake.

12.  Sword of the Spirit

The Word of God convicts us of sin so we can repent.

Overcoming Greed by Charity

“Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”  Matthew 19:21

✠ Love is charitable

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”  Matthew 6:33

✠ Love is charitable

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”  Mark 8:36

✠ Love is charitable

13.  Intercessions

God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We love you; we praise you; we thank you for your Indwelling love as we abide in you and you in us, so we may intercede in your Name and according to your will.

For souls caught in the grip of greed

That each one would repent, embrace the yoke of charity becoming victors. We pray to the Lord.

✠ Lord, hear our prayer.

Wake up Call to the Government and Business Leaders

Wake up Call to the Government and Business Leaders

For leaders of national, state, and local government, leaders of business, corporate, medium, and small; that these leaders can abandon the woke agenda of totalitarian control, and critical race theory and wake up so they can renounce vice, and acquire virtue, restoring these institutions honor by the power of Jesus’ name. We pray to the Lord.

✠ Lord, hear our prayer.

We thank you Father for answering our prayers in Jesus’ Name by the power of the Holy Spirit.

14.  Discernment

Discernment helps us make choices that draw us closer to God.

Transformation of Our Minds so that We May Discern God’s Will

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2

✠ Lord Jesus, renew my mind by the grace of the Holy Spirit. Give me the courage to accept your cross, so that I may run to you and against the ever-present flow of the world, the flesh, and the devil.

15.  Armor of Christ

Each day we pray for the armor of Christ so as to prepare for deliverance prayers.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians: 6:10

Lord Jesus,

By the Belt of Truth: ✠ Replace our lies with your Truth.
By the Breastplate of Righteousness: ✠ Replace our hard hearts with a new heart.
By the Shoes of Peace: ✠ Replace our fear and anxiety with the gift of trust in your divine providence.
By the Shield of Faith: ✠ Replace our doubts and insecurities with the gift of expectant faith.
By the Helmet of Salvation: ✠ Replace our selfish thoughts with your truth and wisdom.
By the Sword of the Spirit: ✠ Replace vain words with your divine Word.
By the Mantle of Our Lady: ✠ Enjoin us to renew the face of the earth.

✠ Amen.

16.  Deliverance

Every day we pray the following prayers to prepare us for deliverance.

“Behold, I give you power to trample underfoot snakes and scorpions, and all the power of enemies”. Luke 10:19

✠ Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.

Lord Jesus, you drove away legions of demons by which the people of God were healed. These you commanded to depart and not to return again. You have defeated all the armies of our invisible enemies and freed your faithful.

Wednesdays we pray to be delivered from the evil spirits associated with greed.

In the Name of Jesus, by the Blood of Jesus, by the Power of his Word, we take authority over the strongholds of greed.

Lord Jesus, remove the stronghold of greed and fill us with the gifts of charity.

Where there has been greed, ✠ let there be charity.
Where there has been possessiveness, ✠ let there be generosity.
Where there has been avarice, ✠  let there be contentment.
Where there has been elitism, ✠  let there be humble hearts.
Where there has been division, ✠  let there be unity.
Where there has been bribery, ✠  let trust be restored.
Where there has been corruption, ✠  let there be integrity.

17.  Cleansing

“So, he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” Kings 5:14

In the spirit of Elisha, we pray for a different way of cleansing each day.

Living Water

“Let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22

✠ Lord Jesus, let the power of your living water wash over me, cleansing me from evil, welcoming me into your divine light, love, and life.

We pause to let the gift of the Water of the Holy Spirit wash over us.

18.  Narrow Gate

Scripture is clear that few find the narrow gate to salvation. These Beloved Spiritual exercises help us to navigate to this gate and we pray for the courage to enter. We cannot presume upon salvation, rather we need to do our part to live the faith which God has given us, every day.

Only those who do the will of the Father will be saved

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?’  Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.’ Matthew 7:21-23

✠ Jesus, help me to realize that the path to salvation requires obedience to your Word. Help me to accept your gift of correction so as to find my way on the narrow path to salvation.

19.  Yoke of Christ

Every day we pray these prayers to be yoked to Christ.

✠ My Soul will not rest until I rest in you.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon your shoulder for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Learn from me; for I am gentle and humble of heart, and your soul will find rest.” Matthew 11:28-30

✠ My Soul will not rest until I rest in you.

On Wednesday, we focus on the yoke of charity.

Lord, grant me the courage to embrace the yoke of charity, so I can learn to deny myself, take up my cross daily, and follow you, so as to enter into your rest.

✠ I accept the yoke of charity.

We pause to shoulder the yoke of Christ and the gift of charity.

20.  Abiding in Jesus

Hating this life

“The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.  Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.  Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” John 12:24-25

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

Keep Ourselves Pure

“See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are… Beloved, we are God’s children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And every one who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.”  1 John 3:1,2-3

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

Accepting Discipline

Those whom I love, I reprove and chasten; so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. He who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’” Revelation 3:18-22

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

21.  Identity in Jesus

Jesus’ interaction with the Woman at the well is all about building our identity in Christ.

Worship in Spirit and Truth

“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.” John 4:18

✠ Jesus, help me to worship you in Spirit and Truth, that I may glorify you everywhere and at all times.

22.  Love In Deed

There are seven corporal works of mercy as recorded in Matthew 25. Those who do not love in deed risk the fires of hell.

Clothe the Naked

“I was naked and you gave me clothing. Matthew 25:36

✠ Lord give me a heart for the poor so that I clothe the naked.

23.  Beatitudes of Revelation

There are seven beatitudes in the Book of Revelation.

Blessed are those who Keep Vigil for the Lord

“See, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and is clothed, not going about naked and exposed to shame.” Revelations 16:15

✠ Lord Jesus, we pray for your blessing to stay awake and keep vigil through the hours of our day and the night and be clothed in your righteousness, free from shame.

24.  Sanctification

Sanctification Cleanses us from the Stain of Sin

“But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11

✠ Lord Jesus, you washed, sanctify, and justified us, in the name of Jesus, empowering us to pray in the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Closing

Most Holy Trinity, we praise you for showering blessings upon us, replacing our vice of greed with the virtue of charity,  giving us new hearts, perfect abodes of your indwelling love, so that abiding in love and unity we may be transformed from glory to glory, by the Lord who is the Spirit empowering us to renew the face of the earth. ✠ Amen

I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do.” John 17:4

✠ Lord Jesus, you taught us that glory is finishing the work your Father gave you, doing his will by the power of the Holy Spirit. Help me to understand the purpose for which I was created, so I may do your will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, obedient to the end, to your honor and glory.

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  ✠ Amen
