Sunday Beloved Spiritual Exercises

In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
✠ Amen

1.  Prayer of the Beloved Disciple

✠ Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit, may we enter the solemn grace of the upper room, that place of Eucharistic love, where the Holy Spirit rested upon the Apostles in tongues of fire. May we abide in you and you in us, in one accord… with our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls at rest, in your Peace… so that we may have ears to hear, eyes to see, hearts to understand.

2.  Our Father

Every day, we begin with the Lord’s prayer.

“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen”

Sunday, we focus on the third petition of the Lord’s prayer.

But Deliver Us From Evil

“If I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.” Luke 11:20

Deliverance from evil is a work to expel evil spirits for sure. But it is also about making room in our lives for God and the life of grace. With the gift of God, we are fully clothed, and in our right minds and we can enter into the rest of the Lord.

✠ Lord Jesus, we thank you for the grace to see our lives as you see them, so that we can repent of sin, breaking the enemy’s hold on us. Thank you for teaching us how to take authority over evil, by the power of your name, your word, and your precious blood. We thank you for welcoming us into the life of grace.

3.  Hail Mary

Every day, we pray the Hail Mary to prepare our hearts for consecration, through Mary to the Most Holy Trinity.

“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

Sunday, we focus on the seventh part of the Hail Mary

“Pray for us Sinners at the Hour of Death.”

✠ We ask the Mother of the Lord, who stood by the cross of her Son, to stand by us, to give us the courage to face our death with faith, hope, and love, so we may enter into Life with God in heaven.

4.  I AM Sayings

Sunday, we focus on the seventh I AM declaration.

“I am the Vine, and you are the branches” John 15:1

Praise be the Father – Vinegrower.
Praise be Jesus, you are the Vine, and we are the branches.
Praise to you Holy Spirit for the gift of pruning.
✠ Praise be the Trinity for grafting us to the vine.

✠ We worship you as we abide in your indwelling love.

5.  Love Incarnate

Sunday, we focus on God’s discipline to help show us his way.

I reprove and discipline those whom I love. Be earnest, therefore, and repent. Revelations 3:19

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to accept your correction, with reverence and fear of the Lord so that we are promptly conditioned to repent of sins and return to your love.

6.  Shepherd’s Love

Each day we take one of the places in Psalm 23, where the Good Shepherd shows his love for us. Sunday, we focus on heaven.

House Of The Lord

“I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.” Psalm 23: 6

✠ It is heaven, all the way to heaven, for those who pray always and acquire the habit of abiding in the Lord.

7.  Gifts of the Holy Spirit

There are seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday, we focus on the gift of Fear of the Lord.

Fear of the Lord

Who are they that fear the Lord? He will teach them the way that they should choose. They will abide in prosperity, and their children shall possess the land. The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes his covenant known to them. Psalm 25:12-14

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to receive the gift of fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom, that we may seek to please with all our hearts.

8.  Signs

There are seven signs that show Jesus is the Son of God.

Sundays, we focus on the seventh sign.

Raising Lazarus (John 11:1-45)

✠ Jesus, we praise you for raising Lazarus and revealing yourself as the Resurrection and the Life. Help me to see that all things are possible because of your life-giving love.

9.  Holy Hour

The Hour of Judgement

“Remember then what you received and heard; obey it, and repent. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.  Yet you have still a few persons in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes; they will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy.” Revelations 3:3-4

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to stay awake during our holy hour with you, so that I may be prepared for any trial during the day, clothed in your righteousness, and be ready for your coming in glory.

10.  Awake

Wake up to the Light and Life of Jesus

“For everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Sleeper, awake! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:14

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to recognize that the darkness of the world, the flesh, and the devil will never suffice. We welcome your light and life.

11.  Penitential Prayer

Sundays, we focus on overcoming pride and its related sins.

✠  Heavenly Father, shine forth your grace upon us, to melt our hard hearts so we can:

  • Love our enemies and forgive all who have harmed us.
  • repent in earnest for the sins which are blocking us from loving you with all our being and our neighbor as ourselves.

We pray to understand the effect of sins in our life, in our families, our nation, and the world. Give us the gift of truth, a repentant heart, a firm purpose of amendment, and the desire to make reparation.

By your grace, we choose to love our enemies and to forgive all who have harmed us.

We repent for the sins of the stronghold of Pride.

All Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our iniquities. Holy God, visit and heal our infirmities for thy Name’s sake.

12.  Sword of the Spirit

The Word of God convicts us of sin so we can repent.

Overcoming Pride by Humility

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

✠ Love is humble

“Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, ‘Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.’” Mark 9:35

✠ Love is humble

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Philippians 2:3

✠ Love is humble

13.  Intercessions

Sunday, we focus on praying to overcome the vice of pride and we pray for the sick and for the souls in purgatory.

God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We love you; we praise you; we thank you for your Indwelling love as we abide in you and you in us, so we may intercede in your Name and according to your will.

For souls caught in the grip of pride

That each one would repent, embrace the yoke of humility becoming victors. We pray to the Lord.

✠ Lord, hear our prayer.

Wake up Call for the Souls in Purgatory

For our departed loved ones and all souls in purgatory, by the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the fire of the Holy Spirit, coupled with our prayer, repentance, fasting, charity, and reparation, may find their place with God in paradise. We pray to the Lord.

✠ Lord, hear our prayer.

We thank you Father for answering our prayers in Jesus’ Name by the power of the Holy Spirit.

14.  Discernment

Discernment helps us make choices that draw us closer to God.

Judge Not, Less you be Judged

“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.” Matthew 7:1-2

✠ Lord Jesus, help me to be careful about how I judge others. Rather help me to purify my own heart, mind, and soul, removing the mote from my eye so I can see clearly to help my neighbor.

15.  Armor of Christ

Each day we pray for the armor of Christ so as to prepare for deliverance prayers.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians: 6:10

Lord Jesus,

By the Belt of Truth: ✠ Replace our lies with your Truth.
By the Breastplate of Righteousness: ✠ Replace our hard hearts with a new heart.
By the Shoes of Peace: ✠ Replace our fear and anxiety with the gift of trust in your divine providence.
By the Shield of Faith: ✠ Replace our doubts and insecurities with the gift of expectant faith.
By the Helmet of Salvation: ✠ Replace our selfish thoughts with your truth and wisdom.
By the Sword of the Spirit: ✠ Replace vain words with your divine Word.
By the Mantle of Our Lady: ✠ Enjoin us to renew the face of the earth.

✠ Amen.

16.  Deliverance

We pray to be delivered from evil spirits so that we may be filled with grace.

“Behold, I give you power to trample underfoot snakes and scorpions, and all the power of enemies”. Luke 10:19

✠ Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.

Lord Jesus, you drove away legions of demons by which the people of God were healed. These you commanded to depart and not to return again. You have defeated all the armies of our invisible enemies and freed your faithful.

Sundays we pray to be delivered from the evil spirits associated with pride.

In the Name of Jesus, by the Blood of Jesus, by the Power of his Word, we take authority over the strongholds of pride.

Lord Jesus, remove the stronghold of pride and fill us with the gifts of humility.

Where there has been pride, ✠ let there be humility.
Where there has been controlling, ✠ let there be yielding.
Where there has been self-righteousness, ✠ let there be God’s righteousness.
Where there we have been self-serving, ✠ let us be generous.
Where there has been conceit, ✠ let there be meekness.
Where there has been stubbornness, ✠ let there be docility.
Where there has been mocking, ✠ let there be affirming humor.
Where there has been vanity, ✠ let there be modesty.

17.  Cleansing

“So, he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” Kings 5:14

In the spirit of Elisha, we pray for a different way of cleansing each day.

Light of Christ

“If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

✠ Lord Jesus, let your light shine on me, bathe me in your light, cleansing me from evil, welcoming me into your divine light, love, and life.

We pause to immerse ourselves in the Light of Christ.

18.  Narrow Gate

Scripture is clear that few find the narrow gate to salvation. These Beloved Spiritual exercises help us to navigate to this gate and we pray for the courage to enter. We cannot presume upon salvation, rather we need to do our part to live the faith which God has given us, every day.

Only those who Enter the Narrow Gate will Find Life

‘“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it”. Matthew 7:13-14

✠ Jesus, help me to realize that while many take the wide and easy road to destruction, help me to seek the narrow gate, and to have the courage to enter, so that I may persevere on your narrow path to salvation.

18.  Yoke of Christ

Every day we pray these prayers to be yoked to Christ.

✠ My Soul will not rest until I rest in you.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon your shoulder for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Learn from me; for I am gentle and humble of heart, and your soul will find rest.” Matthew 11:28-30

✠ My Soul will not rest until I rest in you.

On Sunday, we focus on the yoke of humility.

Lord, grant me the courage to embrace the yoke of humility, so I can learn to deny myself, take up my cross daily, and follow you, so as to enter into your rest.

✠ I accept the yoke of humility.

We pause to shoulder the yoke of Christ and the gift of humility.

20.  Abiding in Jesus

Bearing Fruit

“Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

Abiding in Peace

“Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”’ John 20:19-23

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

Dwelling with God

“And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband; and I heard a great voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.’” Revelation 21:2-4

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

21.  Identity in Jesus

Jesus’ interaction with the Woman at the well is all about building our identity in Christ.

Savior of the World

“It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world.” John 4:42

✠ Jesus, I acknowledge you as the Son of God and Savior of the World. Thank you for the gift of my new identity, as your beloved disciple.

22.  Love In Deed

There are seven corporal works of mercy as recorded in Matthew 25. Those who do not love in deed risk the fires of hell.

Bury the Dead.

“Do not be astonished at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and will come out—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” John 5:28-29

✠ Lord give me a heart for the souls in purgatory and those who grieve for them. Help us to see your face in the grieving and become a blessing to them.

23.  Beatitudes of Revelation

There are seven beatitudes in the Book of Revelation

Blessed are those Who Have Washed their Robes in the Blood of The Lamb

“Blessed are those who wash their robes so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.” Revelation 22:14

✠ Lord Jesus, we have washed our robes in your own precious blood as you have given us access to the food, of the tree of life, which is the Eucharist. We thank you for the privilege of praising you and thanking you for now and eternity.

24.  Sanctification

On Sunday, we focus on sanctification through the name of Jesus by the Power of the Holy Spirit.

“And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

✠ Lord Jesus, we thank you for the grace to see you in glory.

Closing

Most Holy Trinity, we praise you for showering blessings upon us, replacing our vice of pride with the virtue of humility,  giving us new hearts, perfect abodes of your indwelling love, so that abiding in love and unity we may be transformed from glory to glory, by the Lord who is the Spirit empowering us to renew the face of the earth. ✠ Amen

“I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do.” John 17:4

✠ Lord Jesus, you taught us that glory is finishing the work your Father gave you, doing his will by the power of the Holy Spirit. Help me to understand the purpose for which I was created, so I may do your will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, obedient to the end, to your honor and glory.

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  ✠ Amen
