Tuesday Beloved Spiritual Exercises

In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
✠ Amen

1.  Prayer of the Beloved Disciple.

✠ Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit, may we enter the solemn grace of the upper room, that place of Eucharistic love, where the Holy Spirit rested upon the Apostles in tongues of fire. May we abide in you and you in us, in one accord… with our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls at rest, in your Peace… so that we may have ears to hear, eyes to see, hearts to understand.

2.  Our Father

Every day, we begin with the Lord’s prayer.

“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen”

Tuesdays, we focus on the second petition of the Lord’s prayer.

“Your Kingdom come.” Matthew 6:10

“Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.’” John 18:36

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to let go of the pursuit of our own kingdom. Rather give us the grace to recognize that the world and all its false glory is passing. Help me to open my heart now to your kingdom.

3.  Hail Mary

Every day, we pray the Hail Mary to prepare our hearts for consecration, through Mary to the Most Holy Trinity.

“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

Tuesdays, we focus on the second part of the Hail Mary

“The Lord is With Thee.”

✠ Mary is the daughter of the Heavenly Father, the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, and the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Lord help us understand the unique relationship which Mary enjoyed with the Trinity, so I will be inspired to entrust my life to God through her.

4.  I AM Sayings

Tuesday, we focus on the second I AM declaration.

“I am the Light of the World” John 8:12

Praise be the Father – Creator.
Praise be Jesus, Light of the World.
Praise be the Holy Spirit, the fire of divine love.
Praise be the Trinity for the gift of Creative Love.

✠ We worship you as we abide in your creative love.

5.  Love Incarnate

God’s love in the Upper Room.

“Now before the festival of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end… One of his disciples—the one whom Jesus loved—was reclining next to him” John 13:1,3

✠ Lord Jesus, we thank you for your hour of love, help us to recline close to you, abiding in you so that we may be faithful servants of the cross.

6.  Shepherd’s Love

Each day we take one of the places in Psalm 23, where the Good Shepherd shows his love for us.

Tuesdays, we focus on coming to the quiet.

Still Waters

“He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.” Psalm 23:2-3

✠ Father, In the name of Jesus, and by the grace of the Holy Spirit, help us to enter deeply into your gift of rest.

7.  Gifts of the Holy Spirit

There are seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Tuesday, we focus on the gift of Understanding.

Understanding

“Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.” 2 Timothy 2:7

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to receive the gift of understanding, so that we may acquire practical training on how to live the Gospel.

8.  Signs

There are seven signs that show Jesus is the Son of God.

Tuesdays, we focus on the second sign.

Healing the Son of the Royal Official (John 4:46-54)

✠ Jesus, we praise you for healing the son of the royal official at Capernaum.  Give us the gift of expectant faith, to open us to the power of your healing love.

9.  Holy Hour

Resurrection Hour

“Very truly, I tell you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.” John 5:25

✠ Lord Jesus, help us to hear your word now and always so we may be prepared to enter your life.

10.  Awake

Waking Up to ask God’s help

“I rise before dawn and cry for help; I put my hope in your words. My eyes are awake before each watch of the night, that I may meditate on your promise. In your steadfast love hear my voice; O Lord, in your justice preserve my life.” Psalm 119:147-149

✠ Lord Jesus, we thank you for the gift of keeping vigil during the watches of the night and those of the day. Help me to keep vigil with my lamp of praise and thanksgiving lit so I will be always ready for your coming.

11.  Penitential Prayer

The penitential prayer is founded on Divine Mercy. We cannot hope to open the gate of mercy if we do not repent from sin, love our enemy, and forgive all who have offended us.

✠  Heavenly Father, shine forth your grace upon us, to melt our hard hearts so we can:

  • Love our enemies and forgive all who have harmed us.
  • repent in earnest for the sins which are blocking us from loving you with our mind, soul, and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves.

We pray to understand the effect of sins in our life, in our families, our nation, and the world. Give us the gift of truth, a repentant heart, a firm purpose of amendment, and the desire to make reparation.

By your grace, we choose to love our enemies and to forgive all who have harmed us.

Tuesdays, we pray to overcome lust and its related sins.

We repent for the sins of the stronghold of lust.

lust ✠ Lord Have Mercy
pornography ✠ Lord Have Mercy
homosexual perversion ✠ Lord Have Mercy
transgender perversion ✠ Lord Have Mercy
fornication and adultery ✠ Lord Have Mercy
prostitution ✠ Lord Have Mercy
pedophilia ✠ Lord Have Mercy

✠ Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.

All Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our iniquities. Holy God, visit and heal our infirmities for thy Name’s sake.

12.  Sword of the Spirit

The Word of God convicts us of sin so we can repent.

Overcoming Lust by Chastity

“But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”  Matthew 5:28

✠ Love is chaste

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.”  1 Corinthians 6:9-10

✠ Love is chaste

“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.”  Matthew 5:29

✠ Love is chaste

13.  Intercessions

God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We love you; we praise you; we thank you for your Indwelling love as we abide in you and you in us, so we may intercede in your Name and according to your will.

For souls caught in the grip of lust

That each one would repent, embrace the yoke of chastity becoming victors. We pray to the Lord.

✠ Lord, hear our prayer.

Wake up Call to our Families.

For our family members, who have lost their way, including mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, children, grandparents, cousins, and all relatives, that each can wake up, receive the gift of faith, and renounce sin so as to acquire grace, restoring family honor by the power of Jesus’ name. We pray to the Lord.

✠ Lord, hear our prayer.

We thank you Father for answering our prayers in Jesus’ Name by the power of the Holy Spirit.

14.  Discernment

Discernment helps us make choices that draw us closer to God.

Discernment and Fruits

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

✠ Lord Jesus, help me to pray about the fruits of the decisions I am making. Are they bringing me closer to God or driving God away? Give me the discernment so I may choose your truth over the lies of the world, the flesh, and the devil.

15.  Armor of Christ

Each day we pray for the armor of Christ so as to prepare for deliverance prayers.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians: 6:10

Lord Jesus,

By the Belt of Truth: ✠ Replace our lies with your Truth.
By the Breastplate of Righteousness: ✠ Replace our hard hearts with a new heart.
By the Shoes of Peace: ✠ Replace our fear and anxiety with the gift of trust in your divine providence.
By the Shield of Faith: ✠ Replace our doubts and insecurities with the gift of expectant faith.
By the Helmet of Salvation: ✠ Replace our selfish thoughts with your truth and wisdom.
By the Sword of the Spirit: ✠ Replace vain words with your divine Word.
By the Mantle of Our Lady: ✠ Enjoin us to renew the face of the earth.

✠ Amen.

16.  Deliverance

Every day we pray the following prayers to prepare us for deliverance.

“Behold, I give you power to trample underfoot snakes and scorpions, and all the power of enemies”. Luke 10:19

✠ Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.

✠ Lord Jesus, you drove away legions of demons by which the people of God were healed. These you commanded to depart and not to return again. You have defeated all the armies of our invisible enemies and freed your faithful.

Tuesdays, we pray to be delivered from the evil spirits associated with lust.

In the Name of Jesus, by the Blood of Jesus, by the Power of his Word, we take authority over the strongholds of lust.

Lord Jesus, remove the stronghold of lust and fill us with the gifts of chastity.

Where there has been lust, ✠ let there be chastity.
Where there has been pornography, ✠ let there be decency
Where there has been homosexual perversion, ✠ let there be mercy, love, and healing.
Where there has been transgender perversion, ✠ let there be healing of sexual identity.
Where there has been impurity, ✠  let us have pure hearts.
Where there has been fornication and adultery, ✠  let there be self-control and faithfulness.
Where there has been prostitution, ✠  let there be faithful love.

17.  Cleansing

“So, he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” Kings 5:14

In the spirit of Elisha, we pray for a different way of cleansing each day.

The Word of Jesus

“You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.” John 15:3

✠ Lord Jesus, let the power of your word, wash over me, cleansing me from evil, welcoming me into your divine light, love, and life.

We pause to let the gift of the Word release the cleansing power of the Holy Spirit.

18.  Narrow Gate

Scripture is clear that few find the narrow gate to salvation. These Beloved Spiritual exercises help us to navigate to this gate and we pray for the courage to enter. We cannot presume upon salvation, rather we need to do our part to live the faith which God has given us, every day.

The Few Who Will be Saved

Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few be saved?” He said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.  When once the owner of the house has got up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then in reply he will say to you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’  Luke 13:23-25

✠ Jesus, help me to realize that being a Christian is about a daily, even hourly decision, to make you Lord of my Life.

19.  Yoke of Christ

The yoke of Christ is necessary if we are to become beloved disciples. While embracing the cross may seem hard at first, the more we enter into this mystery the easier and lighter the load. Every day we pray these prayers to be yoked to Christ.

✠ My Soul will not rest until I rest in you.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon your shoulder for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Learn from me; for I am gentle and humble of heart, and your soul will find rest.” Matthew 11:28-30

✠ My Soul will not rest until I rest in you.

On Tuesday, we focus on the yoke of chastity.

Chastity (Pure and Modest)

Lord, grant me the courage to embrace the yoke of chastity, so I can learn to deny myself, take up my cross daily, and follow you, so as to enter into your rest.

✠ I accept the yoke of chastity.

We pause to shoulder the yoke of Christ and the gift of chastity.

20.  Abiding in Jesus

Receiving Eucharist worthily

“Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever (feeds on me) will live because of me.” John 6:56-57

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

Obeying the commandments

“He who says “I know him” but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps his word, in him truly love for God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in him: he who says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.” 1 John 2:4-6

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

Keeping Vigil

“Remember then what you received and heard; keep that, and repent. If you will not awake, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you… He who conquers shall be clad thus in white garments, and I will not blot his name out of the book of life; I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”  Revelation 3:3,5-6

✠ I abide in Jesus who abides in the Father, who abides in me.

21.  Identity in Jesus

Jesus’ interaction with the Woman at the well is all about building our identity in Christ.

Transcend Materialism

“If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.’”  John 4:10

✠ Jesus, help me to long for the Living Water of the Holy Spirit, that I might rise above the material world so I may hunger and thirst for righteousness.

22.  Love In Deed

There are seven corporal works of mercy as recorded in Matthew 25. Those who do not love in deed risk the fires of hell.

Give Drink to the Thirsty

“I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” Matthew 25:35

✠ Lord give me a heart for the poor so that I may begin to see those who are thirsty and choose to provide drink for them without counting the cost.

23.  Beatitudes of Revelation

There are seven beatitudes in the Book of Revelation.

Blessed are those who Die Faithful to the Lord

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who from now on die in the Lord.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them.” Revelations 14:13

✠ Lord Jesus, we pray for the discipline to abide in you, to serve you in deed and in truth, so that we may enter into your Life.

24.  Sanctification

Sanctification Brings us Into the Company of the Saints in Light

“To those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, together with all those who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 1:2-3

✠ Lord Jesus, you sanctify us, so that we may be made worthy to share in the fellowship of the saints, empowering us to call on your name with confident love.

Closing

Most Holy Trinity, we praise you for showering blessings upon us, replacing our vice of lust with the virtue of chastity,  giving us new hearts, perfect abodes of your indwelling love, so that abiding in love and unity we may be transformed from glory to glory, by the Lord who is the Spirit empowering us to renew the face of the earth. ✠ Amen

“I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do.” John 17:4

✠ Lord Jesus, you taught us that glory is finishing the work your Father gave you, doing his will by the power of the Holy Spirit. Help me to understand the purpose for which I was created, so I may do your will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, obedient to the end, to your honor and glory.

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  ✠ Amen
